12 May 2008 - Mother’s Day is All About the Kids

A new nationwide survey* by Ribena has revealed that spending time with the kids is the most important activity for Aussie mums on Mother’s Day.

Traditionally seen as an opportunity to give mum a break; the survey of 1000 mums across Australia reveals over 50% would rather have an action packed day with the family, compared to 32% who opted for a lie in.

54% of the nation’s mums opted for a handmade card as their ideal Mother’s Day gift, compared to 31% who wanted breakfast in bed and 14% who preferred their kids helped with the housework.

The family theme was continued when asked ‘What’s the most important thing about Mothers Day?’ – with 58% selecting ‘celebration of being a family’, compared to 38% opting for ‘feeling appreciated’ and less than 4 % opting for ‘getting pampered’!

Kirsty Verity, Brand Manager of Ribena said, “The survey shows that, for most mums, enjoying time with their kids and partners is the main priority, rather than putting their feet up!”

“It’s pretty clear that putting time aside to do something fun as a family is how Aussie mums really want to celebrate their special day” she said.
